Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service have an exciting opportunity for a 3rd Line ICT Support Engineer to join their team.

Location: Ripley (DE5 3RS)

Salary: £46,464 - £53,831 PA

Job Type: 2 Year Temporary Contract

Hours: 37 Hours, Monday - Friday

3rd Line ICT Support Engineer – The Role:

As a 3rd Line ICT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support for a range of infrastructure technologies, including networking, switches, firewalls, Windows servers, end-user systems, and station end equipment (mobile devices, pagers, alerters). Your role involves supporting system administrators and troubleshooting issues across the ICT estate.

The normal working week is 37 hours, usually worked Monday to Friday; however, you may occasionally need to work beyond normal office hours, evenings, and weekends as required.

3rd Line ICT Support Engineer – Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure effective day-to-day support for communications, mobilising, and information systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with a focus on data backup

- Document, plan, install, administer, troubleshoot, and develop IT infrastructure, including network and telephony systems

- Assist with detailed investigations and feasibility studies of equipment and systems, preparing reports and recommendations

- Maintain and test effective contingency plans for system breakdowns, providing technical advice during emergencies

- Ensure ICT services align with ITIL best practice guidelines

- Maintain documentation for installations, configurations, and troubleshooting, following Change Management Procedures

- Act as a technical mentor to support team members, providing relevant training

- Manage user accounts and access permissions for resources like shared data folders, applications, and devices

- Perform other duties as needed to meet service priorities and business continuity requirements

3rd Line ICT Support Engineer – You:

- Excellent ICT Problem solving in a mission critical environment

- A strong understanding of networking technologies, including cisco switches, & Sophos UTMs

- A strong understanding of Microsoft Windows operating system technologies

- A strong understanding of virtualised server and desktop provision

- A strong understanding of cloud-based infrastructure

- An excellent all-round ICT support understanding working as part of a busy team

- Candidate must possess outstanding customer service abilities
