Role: QA Tester
Salary: £45,000
Location: South Croydon (4 Days on-site/non-negotiable)
My client is a leading UK-based payments acceptance software specialist. With over 150,000 merchant implementations worldwide across various sectors, including retail, fuel, airline, travel, logistics, and government, they offer merchants independence from payment schemes, acquirers, PSPs, and device manufacturers, leading to financial savings and greater payment flexibility.
They are now looking to bring on highly skilled software tester within the Scrum Development team to ensure the high quality of our innovative payment products, both new and existing.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Conduct thorough testing of web applications to ensure functionality, usability, and security.
Perform penetration testing to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in software systems, networks, and applications.
Collaborate with software engineers and other Scrum team members to develop automated tests.
Write high-level and detailed software test plans for STS products, including web applications.
Set up and maintain formal test environments.
Conduct software tests according to defined test plans and test cases.
Record, organize, and archive test results.
Liaise with customers to manage industry certification testing, such as EMV and acquirer testing.
Assist with technical support by providing testing services, product knowledge, and administrative support.
Manage and prioritize your own workload efficiently.
Continuously learn about EMV, global payments, data security, our products, and testing techniques and tools.
Take pride in STS's innovative payment products and contribute to changing the payments world.
Be willing and available to travel as required.
Essentials:
Proven experience in software testing, with an emphasis on web and penetration testing.
Strong knowledge of web technologies and the OSI model, including HTTP & TCP protocols, JSON, XML, and HTML.
Familiarity with web security concepts, OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, and common attack vectors.
Experience with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nmap, Wireshark, and Postman.
Understanding of encryption and security-related testing.
Basic knowledge of Java fundamentals and CLI tools to run Java applications.
Knowledge of SQL and database systems.
Great attention to detail.
Highly motivated, organized, and a high achiever with a proven track record of excellence.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Ability to quickly learn and understand complex systems and technical documentation.
Scientific university degree with a classification of 2.2 or higher.
Desirables:
Familiarity with Java frameworks such as Spring and Java IDEs like IntelliJ.
Experience with build tools such as Maven/Gradle.
Knowledge of Git.
Experience with testing frameworks like Cucumber, Selenium, and Concordion.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of EMV and card payment systems.
ISTQB certification or equivalent
