About the Company

A leading construction contractor with a large presence across Scotland are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This business turnover in excess of £200m a year and work across recession proof sectors which include power infrastructure, civil engineering, rail and highways. As a result of over £100m of successful tenders awarded, the business are now looking to expand their Commercial Team in West Lothian.

About the Role

Joining this Commercial team as a Assistant Quantity Surveyor will see you deliver on a multitude of NEC and FIDIC contracts. With support from more senior members of the commercial team, they will manage the costs of the works and ensure that their part of the project meets legal and quality standards. They will, for their area of responsibility, be also responsible for the effective engagement and management of our supply chain.

What you'll be doing

* Gather data & carry out research on current construction costs

* Measure, record & value work supervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures

* Seek out, locate and assemble pre and post contract documentation, complimented with the necessary administration skills.

* Be responsible for weekly and monthly works programmes

* Collation of Cost and Value Information

* Preparation of Cost reconciliation statements

* Record and document information including registration of interest

* Understand the steps / documentation required

* Collation of cost and value information

* Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors

* Typically you will have or working towards a quantity surveying degree or be in the final stages of achieving the same on a part-time basis.

* A Graduate QS will be proactively following the structured training programmes to achieve their professional qualifications from the RICS, ICES or CIOB

What's Required

The ideal candidate will have their degree in Quantity Surveying or will be working towards completion on a part time basis. The main requirements for this role focus around attitude and work ethic rather than specific industry experience. You can demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills and are results focused in the approach to your work.
