Due to expansion, I have a RARE opportunity for a number of MOTIVATED and PASSIONATE individuals to join a 5-bed children's residential service in Southend-on-Sea, Essex as a Children's Residential Support Worker, supporting young males aged 12 - 16 years with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We are looking for ACTIVE and DRIVEN individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.

You will be committed, passionate and able to engage, encourage and mentor the young people, whilst having a whole lot of fun!

The boys that live in the home enjoy football, martial arts, and boxing among many other activities! Getting paid to play sports and computer games with the boys is certainly a fun perk of the job!!

Salary: £26,885 - £30,890 (sleep allowance included)

Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex (SS0 postcode)

Hours: Full-Time

Contract: Permanent

Shift pattern: 4-week rolling rota (Mixture of early, late and waking night shifts)

No two days are ever the same as a children's residential support worker, so you need to be happy to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. It is challenging, but incredibly rewarding work!!

Responsibilities of a Children's Residential Support Worker:

To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
Maintain a safe environment for young people.
Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.Requirements:

Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
You must be over the age of 21.
