Reporting to the Site Director and Regional Finance Director, this key role is responsible for maintaining financial controls and accurate accounting records for Gardner Aerospace - Basildon preparation of management accounts, preparation of the costing system , assisting in the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinating statutory audits.

The role would give opportunity for business partnering with the Shared Services, site leaders and other site accountants.

The Site Controller would also lead finance and business improvement activities aimed at improving forecast accuracy, working capital management and cost control together with enhanced quality of reporting.

The role is supported by a finance shared services team (based in Derby and India).

-Provide financial support for the Site Director and Site Teams

-Preparation of management accounts

-Monthly Close and reporting process (3 days)

-Manage Back Office resources

-5 Year Planning and quarterly forecasts

-Capital and resource planning, S&OP links

-Variable and indirect cost control and improvement

-Support the preparation of cash forecasts

-Complete VAT returns and HMRC trading returns – EC, Intrastat

-Preparation of standard costing information

-Identify and communicate financial problems and opportunities requiring management focus

-Working capital management and improvement

-Implementation of best practice

-Transfer price management

-Assist with preparation of statutory accounts. Clean year-end Auditor’s report

-Support the Group Financial Controller and other finance staff as required

-Assist with ad hoc financial and non-financial analysis and reporting as required by the Site Director

Core skills/attributes needed:

* Ideally a qualified accountant with accounting experience within a manufacturing environment

* Commercial Leadership and skills

* Knowledge and experience with industry recognised finance software packages, preferably Oracle, and have participated in IT implementation projects

* Strong IT skills, including advanced use of Excel

* Experience of MRP operating system preferable, including Paragon

* Strong numerical attributes and commercially astute

* Excellent technical accounting, financial reporting, and forecasting skills

* The ability to communicate and explain procedures to non-financial, professional staff and to exhibit an open and consultative approach.

* Ability to build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally

* Good written and verbal communication skills which can be adapted for a range of contacts

* Attention to detail and accurate, a ‘completer/finisher’

* React confidently to new situations, using own initiative and available resource to complete tasks effectively

* Work autonomously, prioritising own workload to ensure all deadlines are met

* Infrequent travel to the relevant sites,

* Must be able to travel within the UK

* Must hold a valid UK driving licence
