Job Description
Openings exist for Drexel Co-Op Students within the AECOM Philadelphia Office. Our team is looking for a civil engineering co-op student interested in joining a premier engineering company with potential to gain experience on a variety of challenging transportation projects that include work within the highway, bridge, rail, mass transit, and airport industries. Previous and current projects include several projects involving the reconstruction of I-95 in the Philadelphia area, reconstruction of I-476, several reconstruction and interchange improvement projects along I-78 in Berks County PA, reconstruction and interchange improvements along I-80 in Monroe County PA, several total reconstruction projects along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, supporting the design of Green Infrastructure within the City of Philadelphia, and supporting DelDOT statewide pavement rehab program. Our clients include PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, DelDOT, Norfolk Southern Railroad, CSX, Amtrak, the Delaware River Port Authority, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, the City of Philadelphia, and SEPTA.
 
Job Description: Responsibilities will include assisting with preliminary to final design calculations and plan development, reviewing of field information, and possible field inspection of existing facilities. Students will be assigned to the department they match with based on the interview and ranking process in Drexel’s SCDC Services. All work will be consistent with the duties of an entry level, graduate engineer's responsibilities. Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work. A co-op student is expected to be able to apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills. Computer literacy and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly are a requirement. The person must be able to adjust to short term assignments as well as remain dedicated to long term projects.
Position is scheduled to begin in September 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the development of plans, details, calculations through use of design manuals, a variety of civil engineering design software applications, and MS Office applications.
Assisting with reviewing of field information, possible field inspection of existing facilities, and other work consistent with the duties of an entry level engineer.
General office administration, including report reproduction, collation, and deliveries.
Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work. An intern is expected to be able to apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.
