Logo The Faculty of Biology invites applications for the Chair (W2) of Functional Diversity and Evolution of Plants (with tenure track to W3) to be filled at the next possible date with a six-year contract. Following a successful tenure evaluation procedure, the appointment to a permanent Chair (W3) of Functional Diversity and Evolution of Plants is planned. The evaluation criteria will be mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted and will form the basis of the evaluation procedure. These will cover the categories of research, academic teaching, knowledge transfer and academic self-administration. The appointment to the Chair (W3) of Functional Diversity and Evolution of Plants is combined with taking over the management of TUD's Botanical Garden and the Herbarium Dresdense. You (m/f/x) will represent the subject Functional Diversity and Evolution of Plants in teaching and research. You will contribute to teaching and further developing the faculty's degree programs Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BSc), Biology in Society (MSc) and Molecular Biosciences and Productive Biosystems (MSc) as well as in teaching export for other faculties. Within the framework of undergraduate teaching in the Faculty of Biology, lectures are to be given in German. Your tasks will include participating in the further development and internationalization of these degree programs. Your future research focus could lie on the following fields, for example: Systematics, phylogeny and phylogenomics of non-model plants, Adaptation strategies of plants to climate and habitat, Capturing diversity and traditional knowledge in the context of global change, Functional morphology, anatomy and biomimetics. In this context, we expect an intensive cooperation with TUD's Botanical Garden. Cooperation with other faculties (e.g., Environmental Sciences or Mechanical Science and Engineering), institutions of the university (e.g., the Biotechnological Center (BIOTEC) or the Center for Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE), as well as non-university research institutions,such as the museums of the Senckenberg Societyfor Nature Research in Dresden and Görlitz, will be welcome. We expect you to participate in interdisciplinary collaborative projects, contribute to overarching initiatives such as the Excellence Strategy, and actively support academic self-administration. We are looking for you as a personality with an international scientific track-record in the field of Functional Diversity and Evolution of Plants. This can be demonstrated by your publications, your international networking and your results of teaching evaluations. Your research achievements possess a high potential for further development. We wish for extensive experience in autonomous teaching, and successes in acquiring third-party funding. In addition to the general requirements under public employment law, applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of 59 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
