Electrical Project Engineer

We are currently working with a leading engineering contractor with a strong presence delivering flagship projects across the UAE and middle east who are looking for an electrical project engineer to join their team to initially deliver a notable data centre in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to an engineering manager, you will join a talented team from a very early stage of the project, managing the pre-construction duties before going to site later this year to take control of a complex part of the electrical package from a technical and management perspective.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering colleagues to ensure successful delivery of project goals — on time, on budget, and aligned with technical requirements.

* Support the definition and development of project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for electrical workstreams.

* Create and update accurate electrical schematics and layout drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.

* Establish and maintain work breakdown structures for electrical tasks to ensure project clarity and accountability.

* Develop detailed electrical budgets, track costs throughout the project lifecycle, and flag any deviations.

* Coordinate and supervise contractors and third-party vendors involved in electrical installations and commissioning.

* Liaise with cross-functional teams — including production, engineering, and operations — to ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements.

* Communicate project updates clearly and consistently to all stakeholders, escalating risks or delays as needed.

* Champion safe working practices by ensuring all work is covered by the appropriate risk assessments, permits, and safety documentation.

* Provide backup project leadership in the absence of the Project Manager.

* Ensure all electrical project work aligns with site-wide environmental, health and safety, and quality management systems.
