Our global motorcycle manufacturing client is urgently looking to fill the following role:

Project Engineer Motorcycle Development - Market Salary + Benefits - Leicestershire

Role context and purpose:
The Project/Lead Engineer, Vehicle Development, may lead a team of design engineers or take the technical lead in specific project areas to deliver new models in-line with organisational targets and customer requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities, ensuring the project is progressing in-line with the company's New Product Introduction (NPI) Process as well as providing technical leadership within the team on all aspects of the chassis design.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop a validated chassis design that meets end-user expectations and internal customer requirements in terms of specification, performance, cost, timing, manufacture and servicing
- Take the technical lead in specific project areas and/or lead a small team on a specialist or derivative project
- Oversee all aspects of the design process, from sign-off of outline project specification through to checking and approving production drawings through an industry standard PLM system
- Produce excellent quality 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings to provide clear understanding of the chassis design
- Arrange Design Reviews with PD Management Team, check and approve tolerance stacks and other calculations, support supplier meetings, plan and execute development activities
- Develop a clear understanding of the Product Development process, take the technical lead where required and closely manage the day-to-day workloads and activities of the design team, paying particular attention to quality of work and project timing
- Share best practices with the product development team and record/ document for future reference in Technical Design Guidelines
- Provide support to senior management with Budget and resource management
- Prepare and maintain detailed project timing plans for all chassis design and development activities, to ensure that key project milestones are achieved
- Work closely with teams within the GTO and GCO to develop and agree technical solutions that are acceptable to all parties
- Track project progress in-line with NPI Process and provide senior management team with regular status updates

Skills / Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or related technical discipline
- 6+ years relevant experience in a similar role in automotive/ motorcycle industry
- Extensive general knowledge of mechanical engineering design and specific knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods and legislative requirements, gained from an automotive background
- Extensive experience of creating, checking and releasing of both 2D and 3D technical CAD data
- Clear understanding of geometric tolerance and its application
- Knowledge of motorcycle design and development process
- Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation
- Extensive knowledge and experience of full product lifecycle, from concept through to production
