My client based in Hoveringham NG14 is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical engineer to work a shift pattern Monday-Friday (Apply online only), (Apply online only) and (Apply online only)

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the safe maintenance; repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems to also ensure so far is as reasonably practicable that plant & equipment remains operational. To ensure that all plant & equipment is serviced in accordance with the sites planned preventative maintenance schedules.

As part of a small combined production and maintenance team, working on a three-tier rotating shift pattern including night shift working, you will be required to undertake all aspects of mechanical repairs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of a small team you will need to work on your own initiative taking decisions as the need arises this will include mechanical repairs
It will be part of your function to understand the systems operation, its components and be able to diagnose faults and repair them
To achieve this, you may be required to attend training in some specialist areas, this may involve staying away for short periods
Ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed to high standard to protect the company assets.
Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules and ensure where possible that the manufactures guidance maintenance procedures are followed.
Ensuring that a safe standard of housekeeping is always maintained (adopting a clean as you go policy)
Carry out periodic plant & equipment inspections according to current legislation
Compliance with all Health Safety and Environmental Regulations
To advise the appropriate manager immediately of any mechanical defects discovered.
Ensure that PPE issued, is kept and maintained in good condition
Other duties as delegated by management.
To assist in working weekends on a rotation basis particularly during busy periods resulting in weekend manufacturing and maintenance works & projects.

Essential:

Time served qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline e.g. apprenticeship, City and Guilds Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 / or equivalent
Welding MIG and MMA, ideally BS 4872 or higher
Hot works - Oxygen and Propane
Hydraulic experience
Pneumatic experience
Abrasive wheels
Working at height (harness trained)
Workshop machinery competent

Not essential (will be required to be trained):

Manual handling
IOSH Managing Safely
FLT licenses
IPAF 3B and 3A
Operation of overhead gantry cranes
Confined space work medium risk
Experience of working as part of a team
Experience of working in a heavy industry factory environment would be advantageous

The successful candidate will be flexible in their approach and be able to work on their own initiative when called upon

PLEASE NOTE: You are required to pass a drug and alcohol test on your first shift, you must also be able to drive to access the site due to the location
