Compliance officer

Our client a well-established law firm in the Top Legal 500 based in Colchester, are actively recruiting for an experienced Compliance Officer to join their Operations team to support the Head of Client Services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career and experience a broad range of compliance and risk related issues impacting a UK regulated law firm.

The role

* Monitor, manage, review, advise and report on compliance and /or risk related issues across the firm

* Manage and respond to client and third party enquiries and complaints

* Assist with all aspects of legal service quality, regulatory compliance and risk management

* Administering core processes, including joiners, movers and leavers, firm – wide practising certificate renewals, Annual Declarations and fee earner file reviews

* Participating in Risk & Compliance and other firm – wide projects, initiatives and developments as required

* To assist with the management and administration of the firm’s quality accreditations, including internal audit and on- going administration of the firm’s Quality Management System to satisfy ISO9001 accreditation

* Maintenance of the firm’s Law Society Lexcel and CQS accreditations

* Ensuring compliance by the firm and senior management with the SRA Authorisation Rules

* Advising the firm on and maintain the firm’s policy and procedures for screening new and existing Directors and Employees

The Candidate

* The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an interest in compliance and regulatory work and have a proven ability to operate within a constantly evolving and challenging environment

* Excellent communication and written skills

* Exceptional attention to detail

* The ability to work discreetly with confidential information

* Able to work under pressure

* The ability to work on your own initiative and take ownership of projects or issues, plus the ability to work as a part of a team

* Knowledge of the SRA Regulatory Framework, MLR2017 and the GDPR would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given

* Proficiency in utilising MS Office tools, in particular Excel
