QUALITY INSPECTOR

Location: Horwich, North West UK
If you like the flexibility of a contract but enjoy being part of a terrific SME family culture, then this is an opportunity for you.
You’ll want to put all your engineering experience into a role where you’ll be a real authority on your subject, across their whole production catalogue. You will adopt their proven standard procedures for contract review, product testing, measurement and inspection and verify that product standards continue to meet customer specifications.
This is a company whose products play life-protecting roles in industries including aerospace, defence, marine, space, construction and F1 motorsport. Given the stakes are high, it’s not surprising that quality, testing and standards are permanently at the top of their agenda.
Your detail-oriented brain will relish creating, maintaining and archiving necessary documentation in line with QA procedures and you’ll be diligent in identifying any potential product and process non-conformities so your inner-detective can look to establish the root cause of the problem.
The role is varied. Your other duties will include gathering data to support KPIs, assisting with planned internal audits against international standards, spotting opportunities for improvements, delivering training briefings and deputising for the Quality Engineer when needed.
To do all this you’ll need to be engineer trained to at least HNC or equivalent with Quality experience in an aerospace-standard manufacturing environment. You’ll be competent in the interpretation of engineering drawings and material standards, ie 3.1 certification as well as having a good working knowledge of relevant internation standards including AS9100 and ISO9001.
You’ll also have experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines and be trained on various Quality tools such as A3, 8D, 5-Why, Pareto, Histograms, SPC, AS9102 First Article Inspection.
A qualification in internal auditing together with practical audit experience and understanding of engineering best practice, 6 Sigma and LEAN would be useful but not essential.
On the inter-personal side, you’ll need good problem-solving and communication skills, together with an ability to engage well with internal customers and external suppliers.
If you’re mentally ticking these boxes right now, then we really want to hear from you. Hit APPLY or call us and we’ll tell you more.
