Nights Manager - Residential Childcare (Part-time)

Location: Balerno, Edinburgh

Salary: £31,015 - £31,756 (FTE = £43,684 - £44,727)

Permanent: Part-time, 27.7 hours per week, weekend work is required, varied rota which is mainly made up of night shifts but also some day shift work included.

21 HSC are looking to recruit Night Shift Residential Child Care Manager for a highly regarded Residential Childcare provider based in Edinburgh. As a Nights Manager you will contribute to the creation of a culture and ethos in which the needs of the children are paramount and provide them with security, safety, care and social development to enable them to reach their potential. You will meet these needs during the night on a bespoke rota pattern that meets the needs of the service. Responsibilities include quality assurance, annual leave management, rota planning, learning and development, HR aspects and support for night staff.

Key Responsibilities:

* Promote a positive ethos in the school consistent with the organisations vision, purpose and core values.

* Implement CMT decisions, consistent with the organisations strategic and operational plans, and regularly report progress to the Service Manager.

* Have lead responsibility for the night time running and ongoing development of the organisation, alongside CMT, including arranging and facilitation monthly supervision.

* Be responsible for the care and welfare of CYP and staff, reporting any safeguarding or health and safety issues immediately, in line with relevant policies and procedures.

* Support the development of plans, policies that meet the individual care, and therapeutic needs of CYP.

* Attend to all needs of CYP which occur through the night, alongside RCCW (Nights) worker, the sleeping member of staff or duty manager as required.

* Assist with staff recruitment and deployment of night staff, ensuring that effective cover arrangements are in place when necessary.

* Lead on and contribute to projects, with a view to promoting continuous improvement.

* Communicate and interact positively with children using solution focussed & strengths-based principles in line with Harmeny policy, procedures and core values.

* Promote develop and implement elements of care plans which address the needs of the child.

* Where required, as a last resort, implement physical intervention techniques.

* Provide direct support and guidance to the SRCCW (Nights).

* Provide regular supervision and debrief to SRCCW Night team.

* Organise the SRCCW Nights rota and to ensure that all roles are covered as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

* You must have a minimumof HNC in Social Services and SVQ 4 (SCQF level 9) or equivalent in line with the SSSC registration requirements for RCCW’s with supervisory responsibilities.

* It is essential to have management or supervisory experience within a residential childcare setting, including recruiting, inducting, managing and developing staff, and handling a range of HR-related issues.
