What you'll be doing;

The Financial Modeller supports the Business Development Managers (bid managers) & the Senior Modeller in all the financial aspects of the bid. In particular, she/he will assist the development of the financial model which is both a bid strategy tool and ultimately a schedule to the Contract of successful bids. The Modeller should work both on the Municipal and the treatment sides
as well as work on the corporate initiatives.

You will be responsible for:

Build and run complex financial models based on modelling templates and best practices
Ensure consistency and integrity of bid submission between explanatory bid documents (ie method statements) and financial model by detailed reconciliation to cost tracker.
Prepare multiple scenarios both internally and externally based on changes to variables such as funding options, scope of service, time horizons, indexation, service frequency and waste flow levels
Complete pricing schedule based on financial model ensuring all modelled revenue across the whole contract is accounted for in both Pricing Schedule and Evaluation model and that auxiliary schedules (eg Rate Items and Cost of Capital) are completed
Review financial models and/or financial analysis completed or partially completed by development team or operations staff
Prepare detailed reconciliation of model outputs to actuals/budget (where Veolia is incumbent) including rigorous interrogation of root causes of variance
Ensure model assumptions are based on rigorous analysis of actual data where available and reliable forecasts. Data sets include but not limited to recyclate prices, inflation projections, budgets
Proactively support managers with financial and technical analysis. Work closely with the core project team and colleagues from other departments.
Help internal Investment Committee to make a decision by preparing investment memos and running sensitivities
Produce and/or review finance related sections of commercial papers presented to client including projections of financial savings/income not captured in the financial model
Review and assess risks from contractual documents (eg Payment Mechanisms, Pricing Schedules and Evaluation Model)
Detailed assessment of possible financial impact of proposed or alternative payment mechanism including excess profit sharing, recyclate income guarantees/sharing, deductions linked to recycling targets
Take part in dialogue/negotiation meetings with Local Authorities
Continue to improve Financial Model Templates
Support mobilisation of contract wins including budget preparation, annual reconciliation and review
Actively maintain commercial awareness/intelligence of both waste industry and macroeconomic trends

What we're looking for;

3-5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including building and working with financial models
Educated to degree level (ideally in a numeric discipline)
