Maintenance Planner

The role of Maintenance Planner is based at Dow Silicones Barry site in South Wales and is one of the largest and most complex silicones sites in the world. Barry is situated less than 10 miles from Cardiff city centre, which is home to Europe's largest waterfront development and combines the practical advantages of a small, friendly city with the cultural and recreational amenities of a successful modern capital.

The role of Maintenance planner will include but is not limited to the following:

Reviews SAP work requests (list of work orders required to be completed in the relevant TA) and liaises with the lead planner to determine what to plan next.
Talks to the operations team (formal meetings and informally as appropriate) to understand the SCOPE of each work order.
Collects the engineering documents together that are required to assist with planning and execution of the work, examples of which being:
Piping and Instrumentation Drawings
Isometrics
Equipment GA's
Integrity Inspection Reports
Instrument Data sheets Walks the individual jobs in the field and takes pictures to determine which of the following is required:

Access (i.e. Scaffold, cherry pickers, rope access or none)
Trades required (i.e. Instrument, Electrical, Mechanical, Rotating Equipment, Riggers etc)
Materials required Develops a work pack (word document) detailing what is required to complete the job, i.e.:

Job Location,
PPE requirements,
Material Requirements,
Work Requirements (split by discipline and supported by pictures)
Inspection Test Records (Sheets that need signing off to prove job completed satisfactorily) Plans the work in SAP:

Develops task list (sequence of steps that the work must be completed in) and assigns appropriate resource levels (number of people and duration)
Reserves the materials required to complete the job and places Purchase Requisitions as required.
Attaches all relevant documentation (work pack and engineering documents)
Inputs a cost estimate for each job as it is planned. Communicates materials needs to Stores and works with them to ensure that they will be here in time.

Works with the scheduler to ensure that the planned job has been scheduled as intended (i.e. correct linkages between operations)

Job Requirements:

Has good working knowledge of EH&S procedures and maintenance in general.
Able to work with other departments / third parties to provide input into the job plan.
Able to create multidisciplinary work packs based on the scope of the work order (utilising archived plans where they exist).
Able to develop various alternatives and evaluate them regarding cost, lead time and risk.
Indicates when preparation in relation to production is required.
Able to process feedback based on the execution of the job plan and update those plans prior to archival.
Acts as a source of information for customers during planning and field teams during execution. Candidate requirements:

Experience in planning complex maintenance works.
Experience in using engineering documents and drawings.
Experience in reading or developing RAMS.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
Basic Knowledge of SAP is beneficial. The lion share of the work that a TA planner plans is mechanical, however Instrument or Electrical knowledge is beneficial as each of the planners is in essence a multi-discipline planner - we do not have trade specific planners.
