Contract: Full-time (Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm)

Location: Wakefield, WF4

Teaching Personnel are looking for a resilient and passionate Teaching Assistant to support a Secondary provision in Wakefield. The school has two sites in WF4 and WF9. The successful candidate will be required to travel to both sites and support secondary aged students with challenging behaviour and trauma backgrounds.

Main Duties:

To provide support for individual pupils or groups of pupils with SEMH or SEND needs, assisting with their learning activities, providing supervision and care
Where appropriate, to support the integration of pupils into mainstream education
To assist with the personal needs of pupils including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
To prepare the classroom as directed for lessons and to clear away afterwards
To report to the teacher or line manager any pupil problems or behavioural difficulties in accordance with school policy
To report to the teacher or line manager on pupil progress and achievements in accordance with school policy
To assist the teacher or line manager by contributing as directed to a pupils’ individual behaviour or education plan
To provide or gather routine information to or from parents/carers under the direction of the teacher or line manager
To provide general support with learning activities (literacy, numeracy etc) to enable pupils to understand instructions and to ensure they remain on task
To assist with the maintenance of equipment and resources
To assist pupils in using resources, including ICT
To assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtimes. These duties shall be undertaken within the postholder’s contractual hours
To participate in school visits, assisting with activities as required
To undertake routine clerical duties including bulk photocopying

Requirements:

Eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
Willing to travel
Experience in challenging behaviour or willing to undertake additional training
Have an overseas criminal clearance or willing to apply for one
Have a child enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
Minimum of six months UK residency
We do not accept those on skilled worker visas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
