Brunswick Organic Nursery is a registered charity based in Bishopthorpe, York, which provides a productive and rewarding environment for people with learning disabilities to work in. Our aim is to build skills and confidence, support wellbeing and develop independence through offering opportunities in different work areas. These include woodwork, horticulture (contract gardening service for the local community, growing plants at our garden nursery and growing organic fruit and vegetables), office administration, crafts and cooking.

We might have just the role for you! We’re looking for an energetic, positive, level-headed and flexible individual to lead and develop our support functions and volunteer management in this key role.
About the role:
For the volunteer management aspect of this role, we are seeking a friendly and perceptive individual who can create and support a vibrant, committed and enthusiastic volunteering community.
This role is also responsible for organising the staff rota and managing the Relief Cover team. To do this well, you’ll need to get to know the people that we support, the staff and the work areas at Brunswick; and be able to mentally hold all sorts of variables and pieces of information to decide on the best plan for cover.
The post holder will provide leadership for effective administrative and IT systems. We’re looking for someone who can develop and review systems that are practical and simple to use.
You will also be involved in organising events and stalls and you will need to be able to collaborate with multiple colleagues across Brunswick to do this.
About you:
In all aspects of this role, you need to keep excellent records and be able to organise and retain lots of information as this post is at the heart of our operations. You will need to have great attention to detail and the confidence to make sensible and swift decisions. The role supports our Directors and in their absence you will be one of two key roles that deputise to keep our daily operations and support for people with learning disabilities running smoothly.
