We are looking for a Heart of House Supervisor to supervise the daily heart of house (back of house) operations for our breakfast and lunch restaurant. The Heart of House Supervisor responsibilities include supervising the food prep and cooking, maintaining a fully-stocked kitchen, inventory, and complying with safety and cleanliness standards. To be successful in this role, the Heart of House Supervisor should be able to lead and motivate the kitchen team and guide them to deliver quality food quickly. Ultimately, the Heart of House Supervisor will ensure all plates are properly cooked and served, and Anna's House customers have a pleasant dining experience.
Responsibilities
Support the General Manager by supervising kitchen staff
Coordinate food prep and cooking food orders, and help order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
Oversee food plating, food temperature, and ensure portion sizes meet expectations
Coordinate communication between front of house and heart of house staff
Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations to ensure the restaurant exceeds standards in food quality, safety, and cleanliness, including storage of food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)
Assist in scheduling heart of house staff, assigning roles based on experience and skills
Maintain and inspect kitchen equipment and utensils, recommending repairs or replacements as needed
Hire and train heart of house staff on prep work, cooking, and food plating techniques
Manage heart of house staff performance by setting expectations and providing consistent feedback
Assist General Manager by providing coaching and feedback to staff and assess performance on an ongoing basis
Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Education
High school diploma required
Experience
Proven work experience as a Kitchen Supervisor or Kitchen Manager
Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering food products and ingredients preferred
Knowledge of a wide range of recipes
Skills
Able to supervise a team in a fast-paced environment and high-temperature kitchen
Able to follow directions and delegate duties as assigned
Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent conflict management abilities
Working Environment
Ability to stand exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment
Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods
Ability to bend, stoop, and lift frequently
Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 40 pounds at a time
Available to work in shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and/or mid afternoon
Benefits
$16 - $21 per hour
Excellent working hours
