As a Bilingual Youth Care Worker at the Children's Refugee Shelter, in collaboration with Teneo Linguistics Company, your role transcends mere job duties. Key Responsibilities:
Provide compassionate direct care services, ensuring each child's well-being, safety, and emotional health.
Supervise daily routines and activities, ensuring a structured and nurturing environment.
Act as an advocate for the children, voicing their needs, concerns, and aspirations.
Embrace the role of an educator, imparting life skills and essential knowledge. For example, guide children in tasks like making beds, maintaining cleanliness, and organizing their personal spaces.
Ensure that children adhere to basic hygiene protocols, from dressing in clean clothes to practicing regular personal grooming.
Engage actively with the youth, participating in and facilitating group activities, recreational sessions, and educational programs.
Continuously monitor the environment to ensure safety and intervene positively in conflicts or issues that might arise.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and feedback to enhance care provision.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of post-high school experience working directly with youth, preferably in care or educational settings.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine affinity for working with children.
Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations with patience, understanding, and empathy.
Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed care will be an advantage.
