MiFID/R, MAR Regulations SME

We are currently working with a global financial institution to recruit a MiFID/R, MAR Regulations Subject Matter Expert on a day rate contract supporting the Regulatory Leads in assessing control environment in relation to Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation and Directive (MiFID/R), Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), Prohibition on Use of Manipulative or Deceptive Practices, and European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR).
You will work with the Global Markets Prudential and Regulatory Compliance Risk Lead, MAR, MiFID/R and EMIR Regulation Leads and project management colleagues across businesses to perform control gap assessments and help support the path back to required risk tolerance. The role will engage with business and functions across the 1st and 2nd Line, to assess the design of currently implemented controls and define potential enhancements where necessary.
To be considered for this role you will be required to have the following skills/experience:

Extensive knowledge and experience of EU/UK MIFIR/MIFID II, MAR and EMIR.
Implemented MIFID/R in large/Tier 1 banks (preferably in market businesses) in either 1st line or 2nd line of defence.
Participated in relevant industry forums and monitor changes/developments to relevant EU/UK MIFIR/MIFID II standards and their potential cross-border application.
Good understanding of what is a control vs process
Have conducted gap analysis of control environment for regulatory compliance.
Able to provide opinion for interpretation of rules based on facts.
Develop and/or contribute to the regulation artifacts e.g., Policy, Standards and procedures and oversee implementation.
Ability to critically examine data lineage and re-perform the data collation to test the controls substantively.
Experience in working in Control Assessment, Internal Audit or Compliance Testing.
Experience working within risk areas dealing with regulatory or compliance risk in 1st or 2nd line of defence.
This role will be hybrid with 3 days working from the office in Belfast. Although the role is initially for a 6-month period there is a high possibility of extension.
