ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS - Windows System Administrator

As a Windows System Engineer, you support our infrastructures and services.

You administer and monitor systems, analyse and resolve problems, support migrations to new technologies, find solutions and work hand in hand with your colleagues from the network and security departments.

You are the contact person for 3rd level support for our customers. You plan and design the implementation of IT projects in the cloud and infrastructure area.

Your tasks

• Installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the entire server and client infrastructure (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Windows 10/11);
• Installation of updates, service packs, security patches for operating systems and operating system-related products;
• Server administration with SCCM and SCOM;
• Troubleshooting for Microsoft Server and client products;
• Support and administration of directory and infrastructure services (Active Directory, Active Directory on Azure, LDAP, DNS, );
• Administration of Virtualization (VMware) and monitoring tools;
• Further development and improvement of the infrastructure in cooperation with your team (system admins, IT architects, project managers);
• Creation, maintenance, and optimization of technical documentation;
• Develop and follow structured approaches for incident detection, response, and resolution;
• Plan for future expansion requirements in collaboration with Service Manager and Data and IT architect;
• Collaborate with IT assurance and performance officer to analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements;
• Administer COTS and corporate own developed software solutions;
• Handle vendor escalations;
• Perform typical system administrative activities including daily performance monitoring, routine equipment checks, preventative maintenance, updating, controlling access permissions and privileges, and issue troubleshooting and resolution;
• Ensure compliance with standard practices, processes, and enterprise standards;
• Administer Microsoft management solutions SCCM / Intune and Microsoft servers;
• Administer the image build and application management process via SCCM;
• Administer our Active Directory and Entra ID directory;
• Administer Microsoft security infrastructure.

Your profile

• You have a degree in technical studies or an equivalent professional experience;
• You have at least 3 years of professional experience as a Windows system administrator;
• Your expertise in Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory is excellent;
• You have knowledge of using SCCM and SCOM;
• You have knowledge of Virtualization with VMware and/or Hyper-V;
• Strong experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID Directory and the security aspects of them;
• Ability to create and maintain automation scripts;
• Strong expertise in recent security standards and technologies;
• You have a friendly manner and enjoy working on tricky projects;
• Good troubleshooting skills with different types of systems; being able to read log files and find potential errors;
• Knowledge of Microsoft O365 and Azure Cloud, Infrastructure as Code with Azure DevOps, and Mobile Device Management with Intune is desirable;
• Your language skills: very good English skills (at least C1), good German skills (at least B1);
• Good documentation skills and understanding the importance of documentation when working as a team.
