Starting Salary: $50,000 annually with excellent benefits.

To successfully audit and inspect wood products within the territory, this position includes a fleet vehicle, an iPad, an iPhone, and the necessary tools.

Timber Products Inspection, Inc. (TP) is an independent, third-party Wood and Biomass products inspection, testing, and consulting company with field representation throughout the entire United States.

Job Summary:

The Field Inspector travels to work in an assigned territory under the guidance and direction of the Field Supervisor. At times, may have night(s) away from home per week, once training is complete. Field Inspector performs Wood and Biomass product audits. In addition, maintains proper documentation by recording the results of inspections through test reports; follows specific procedures; solicits new business; trains production staff and adheres to company policies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position includes an Enterprise fleet vehicle with gas card, iPad, iPhone, & inspection tools
  • Perform Wood and Biomass product audits by using tools such as hand-held measurement devices, calipers and power drills to sample and/or audit product to verify compliance with applicable standards
  • Check products by random sampling, and performing analysis on samples taken
  • Report results of inspections through test reports on tablet. When defects occur, Representative notifies supervisor and helps to analyze and correct production problems
  • Train production staff - Teach lumber graders, treaters and Quality Control staff in applicable standards. Will monitor plant staff for execution of standards
  • Maintain proper documentation procedures - Prepare oral and written reports on plant audits and other procedures
  • Solicit new business - Always alert for an opportunity to promote the services Timber Products provides

Education and Experience:

Preferably a college degree or its equivalent

Physical Requirements:

Standing, Stooping, Walking, Balancing/Reaching, may lift up to 50 lbs. Work in a production environment, possibly in inclement weather. Ability to drive long distances and fly to other regions for training and work duties.
