We are seeking a talented and experienced HR Advisor to join our HR function supporting the HR Manager for Materials and Contracting business across the Northern region. This role will be based in Salford, Greater Manchester but will travel across the region. Whether you live closer to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield or Stockport this could be a great role for you! 

This broad and stretching HR Advisor role is an opportunity for you to partner with senior business stakeholders and work on a wide range of activities such as change initiatives including TUPE, talent attraction and development, inclusion and diversity, employee engagement and business improvement initiatives.  This is a hybrid role that combines regional travel and working from home.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the HR Manager, the HR Advisor will be responsible for supporting Managers across the whole range of generalist HR requirements including the talent agenda, with a focus on talent management and succession planning and driving initiatives to create an inclusive and diverse workforce. 

As HR Advisor you will also be responsible for: 

Ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies and procedures providing managers with advice in respect of employee relations issues 

Supporting managers in the management and improvement of employee performance 

Assisting in the management of short and long-term absence, balancing the welfare of employees and the needs of the business to identify solutions and remedies 

Supporting the Resourcing team to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce including coaching and supporting managers in interviewing 

Participating in project teams across the wider HR function 

Using available metrics and trends to make informed decisions across a wide range of HR areas 

Ensuring all HR processes are optimised to drive efficiencies and improve cost control 

Contributing to the wider HR team to ensure that best practice is shared/processes aligned 

Supporting managers succession planning and talent management including the development of Graduates, Higher Apprentices & Apprentices 

Ensuring that all absence and sickness is managed and recorded correctly by line managers, in line with Company Policy and provide HR KPI reports and management information as required 

Contributing to health and wellbeing programmes across the business and visit our sites to participate in Health and Safety activities 

The role will form part of a National HR Team, ensuring that through collaborative working that best practice is shared and the wider Tarmac people agenda is driven forward. 

The Ideal CandidateSuitable candidates for the role of HR Advisor will ideally be CIPD qualified or possess equivalent experience and a background within a generalist HR Function with experience in managing complex ER issues. Additionally, you will have a comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices, coupled with relevant business experience and professional development. 

Suitable candidates for the role of HR Advisor will also have: 

Strong written and verbal communication skills and be IT literate 

Proven stakeholder management skills at all levels 

Ability to coach, influence and challenge appropriately 

Confidence in analysing dashboard reports and using data to drive decision making 

Resilience and flexibility to work both autonomously and as part of a team 

Curiosity and a desire for self development and discovering more about our complex business 

Excellent attention to detail 

Strong time management skills 

This is a mobile role and a company car is provided so full UK driving licence is essential.
