Escape Recruitment is working with our manufacturing client is a world leader in their field and is looking to appoint an experienced Export Team Leader to join them.
The Export Team Leader will manage the team responsible for shipping finished goods to worldwide distribution and ensuring customs compliance of all shipments. They will liaise with customs and other government border agencies to ensure compliance and keep up to date with all relevant export/customs laws, regulations and paperwork.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Lead, mentor and motivate a small team of Customer service and Export Coordinators
Support the team to provide an excellent level of service to customers
Ensure all export activities across the business are in line with key regulations and compliance and required paperwork
Appoint and build working relationships with freight forwarders, implement contracts and manage performance to meet SLAs
Facilitate pricing enquiries and currency conversion and maintain pricing records on the ERP system
Work collaboratively with colleagues in key business to ensure a consistent level of customer service is provided to all
Proactively look at ways to improve processes and procedures to deliver success and the goals of the team Knowledge and experience required for the role:
Proven experience of working in a similar export role, preferably within manufacturing
Experience of managing and leading successful teams
Understanding of trade finance instruments such as: - export, letter of credits, export finance credit terms for customers (including cross-border payment terms), guarantees and advance payments
Sound knowledge of export certification, trade compliance and customs procedures
Knowledge of global and local operating markets
Can demonstrate a strong commercial understanding in decision-making
Commercially aware of foreign currency exchange rates
