Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Theatre Operations Manager.

The Theatre Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the theatre operations across The Richard Cairns Building.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide a professional and friendly welcome to all users;
Promote and provide an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for all users;
Ensure that all staff on duty are following proper procedures;
Ensure that the facilities in the building are to the high standards that the college expects;
Responsible for all patrons and visitors in the space during performances and events;
Ensure timetabled sessions are set up and cleared away promptly;
Working with the Theatre Events and Productions Coordinator to liaise with the schools facilities, grounds and cleaning teams;
Ensure that the building opens and closes at scheduled times;
Conduct regular building patrols to ensure the cleanliness and safe use of the facilities;
Deal with situations and issues as they arrive.

Technical Responsibilities:

Support the technical provision of the theatre
Provide a high-level lighting, sound and stage provision to events across the space
Support the department in maintaining the technical equipment within The Richard Cairns
Support in the compliance work as guided by the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager supported by the Theatre Events and Productions Coordinator.

Theatre Management Responsibilities:

Support the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager in the production of rotas
Managing the ordering of Front of House services and consumables
Deputise for the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager as required and having line management responsibility for some staff within the wider team.

Person Specification:

Customer focused with a passion for providing exceptional service.
Driven and enthusiastic.
Skilled Lighting or Sound Technician.
Previous Management Experience.
Knowledge of customer journey and experience management for Theatre Patrons.
Excellent computer-based skills.
Be able to play an active role as part of a team.

Hours of work:

36 hours per week over 4 days, further discussions to take place at interview stage to decide the set working pattern for the role. In addition to this, the post-holder will be required to work some evenings and weekend events for which time in lieu will be given.

Holidays:

23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service. (of which 3 days need to be taken between Christmas and New Year when the College is closed).
