Senior/Principal Electronic Design Engineer

Tewkesbury -Up to £60/78k depending on experience

Our client’s business has seen their engineering team size increase through continuous and sustained growth and will expand further in the foreseeable future. They are looking for a Senior or Principal Electronic Design Engineer to join the team; someone with high-speed digital design background is ideal. As this role also includes line management for 8 hardware engineers the ability to lead and nurture a team is also required.

*Due to the nature of the work all candidates will be required to obtain UK Security Clearance*

Technical Competencies

Design Experience

* High-speed digital and analogue electronic circuit design, simulation, implementation, and verification

* Design (schematics and layout) of complex multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs) involving high speed devices: FPGAs and/or processors

* Integration and test of PCB assemblies and systems

* Hands-on experience of electronic test equipment (scopes, power supplies etc.)

* Experience with PCB design (e.g. Altium Designer)

* Troubleshooting, modifying existing designs, recommending and implementing design improvements

* Experience with consumer products from concept through to production

* Good understanding of the electronics component market

* Undertake analysis of circuits for design assurance, DFM, FMA

Technical Leadership

* Select and apply relevant standards

* Develop new techniques and their supporting processes

* Investigate and solve technical problems

* Assist others as a technical specialist/advisor

Documentation

* Review technical documents for conformity and quality

* Author technical documentation, including research reports, technical proposals to support bids and design documents

* Tailor document style and content appropriately for consumption by a wide range of stakeholders (customers, evaluators, engineers, management, etc.)

Engineering support

* Provide technical expertise to product development activities

* Provide fault diagnostics to assist in product improvement

Desirables

* Working knowledge of RF design, e.g. Wi-Fi, NFC or cellular

* Understanding of cryptography
