Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Barrow-in-Furness - Hybrid Working Pattern Available (2-3 days on site per week

Salary: £50,000 - £56,000 (depending on skills and experience)

Proactive are currently in search of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a world leading Aerospace and Defence company based in Barrow-In-Furness.

As part of the Weapon Systems Engineering team, you will be working on new and / or existing Products (i.e. M777 towed howitzer, 4.5" MK.8 MOD 1 Naval Gun, AS90 Self Propelled Howitzer & 105 Light Gun), through all stages: from the initial concept; design and development; testing, through to final manufacture and implementation of a new product or sub-system.

Key Accountabilities:

Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of an integrated project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer.
Developing design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process.
Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers.
Carrying out technical analysis and investigations and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
Planning, delivering, and monitoring assigned projects or work packages, ensuring that requirements are delivered to plan.Your Skills and Experiences:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or a high level of experience within an engineering environment, whilst having experience writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications.
Design experience in a production and/or prototyping environment, finite element analysis (FEA) software to perform structural/stress analysis and product data management (PDM) tools to configuration manage data.
Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards, and standard instructions (i.e., Business Management System (BMS) and Life Cycle Model (LCM)). Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Working experience using CAD software (CREO Parametrics or similar) and PLM software (Teamcenter or similar).Benefits:
