About the Role

My client seeks a Welding Quality Engineer to take a senior role within the quality function and contribute to the success of the company by ensuring adherence to quality standards, process development, continuous improvement, and supporting training and development initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive support across the site, handling various tasks as needed.

* Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with company procedures and meet specifications, supplying relevant supporting paperwork.

* Conduct inspections at different production stages, including at supplier premises, to identify non-conformities in line with company procedures.

* Collaborate with the team and work independently to support inspection and auditing processes, contributing to general quality-related activities and projects within the quality department.

* Assist Production with innovation, process development, standard operating procedures, and technology application for continuous improvement.

* Inspect materials, welds, dimensions, and painting processes, with opportunities for training and development.

About you

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you hold IWE or IEng certifications, coupled with professional welding institute membership and appropriate technical qualifications. You will be an experienced welding professional who has ideally worked in a large-scale fabrication setting with demonstrable depth in knowledge and practical experience of MAG, TIG and SMAW Welding.

Key selection criteria

* In-depth knowledge of quality and welding management systems ISO9001 and ISO3834.

* Experience with EN1090-2

* Ability to support the improvement of processes and procedures.

* Competence in welder monitoring, weld sequences/standard operating procedures (SOP), and distortion control.

* Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and international specifications.

* A background in welding/fabrication manufacturing and/or quality-related activities.

* Familiarity with materials such as S355-60, 690-60 plate and pipe, and 960-40 plate.

* Experience with crane systems would be beneficial.

* Ability to communicate information clearly at all levels, coupled with a methodical and logical approach.

* Willingness to learn and develop new skills to support the department.

* Membership in a professional institute (TWI, CQI, NACE, IIW, CMI, etc.)

* Good IT skills.

* Travel within the UK and Europe for a few weeks per year will be necessary
