Teaching Assistant – Sport & Behavioural Support

Location - Swansea

Pay rate - £84.50 - £100 per day (based on experience)

Duration - Long-term (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm)

We are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a Special Educational Needs school in Swansea to work with pupils aged between 11 and 19 years old. You will support pupils with a wide range of severe, complex, and specific additional learning needs including autism and communication difficulties. This full-time, long-term role starts immediately and offers the potential to become permanent after 12 weeks for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

* Supporting pupils with a variety of severe or complex additional learning needs, including ASD and communication needs.

* Collaborating closely with Teachers, other support staff, and relevant external agencies to implement and support the delivery of Individual Development Plans (IDPs), making modifications as needed.

* Supporting pupils to feel confident in their learning abilities and inspire a positive approach to education.

* Assisting pupils in achieving academic, social, and emotional developmental milestones.

* Encouraging and supporting pupils to participate in group activities and wider class/school events, ensuring they feel included in peer groups.

* Helping pupils develop, understand, and implement positive behavior using praise and reward as guidance.

* Promoting pupil health and well-being.

Requirements:

* Experience working with children with additional learning needs, particularly severe or complex, within the last 3 years.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Ability to build strong rapport with pupils based on mutual trust and respect.

* Proven ability to demonstrate and promote positive behaviour.

* Willingness to undertake additional training.
