CNC Sliding Head Setter

Role: CNC Sliding Head Machinist

Location: Willenhall

Hours of work: 20:00 - 06:00 - Monday – Thursday

Rate of pay: £17.25 Per hour - £20.70 Per hour

Wentworth James are recruiting for an experienced CNC Sliding Head Setter and Operator on behalf of a well-established fastener business based in Wolverhampton who specialise within the Petrochemical and Oil & Gas sectors. As a Sliding Head Setter you will be working with Citizen and Star machines, operating fixed head machines – Doosan, Nakamura and DMG Mori Machines.

Duties of the role:

* Set up and operate sliding head lathes - Citizen and Star machines.

* Set up and operate CNC Fixed head machines -Doosan, Nakamura, Citizen and DMG Mori machines.

* Read drawings and job travelers to determine machining to be done and dimensional specifications.

* Locate and download programs from our server storage.

* Identify, select, and install correct tooling for operations being performed.

* Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of stainless-steel grades and exotic materials.

* Read, understand and where necessary edit CNC programs, on Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls system.

* Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.

* Apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduced setup times and improve productivity.

* Visually inspects final components.

* Uses precision measuring instruments and gauging devices.

* Properly identify components after assembly/manufacture.

* Seek out and identify Continuous Improvement opportunities.

* Create and maintain a team focused work environment.

* Responsible for general housekeeping and cleanliness of working area.

* Support “Best Practices” to achieve company goals for safety, delivery, cost and quality.

Candidate Requirements:

* Requires in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes.

* Ability to read complex engineering drawings.

* Be time served in a machining discipline.

* Have a relevant Health and Safety awareness.

* Previous experience in a similar industry is preferable (specialist fasteners/exotic materials).

* Experience working with various machine control systems, including Fanuc and Mitsubishi.

* Must be self-motivated and possess facilitation skills to be used in a team setting.

* Prior experience with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, height gauges and bore gauges.
